It all started as an experiment.
It would take less than 2 hours a week, and I could do it when I first woke-up each morning.
During a sermon, our minister mentioned a conversation he had with some academic researchers. They had followed the Bible-study habits of 40,000 people over 10 years.
Their research showed that people that studied their Bibles 3 times or less a week did not report any significant benefits. But something special happened when a person studied their Bible 4 times a week or more for at least 15 minutes each day.
So, I decided to give it a try.
When I first got up each morning, I used the free Amazon Kindle app on my phone and read a passage from the Bible and various devotionals.
I started with:
- The One Year Bible Illustrated (NIV) by Tyndale
- The Duck Commander Devotional by Alan Robertson
- Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young
- 40 Days With Jesus: Celebrating His Presence by Sarah Young
- Stronger: Forty Days of Metal and Spirituality by Brian “Head” Welch
Did I do it perfect? Nope. A couple of times I even got 2-3 weeks behind. But overall, I have been able to keep up.
But I couldn’t help it. Since I am an accountant, I started counting. And before long, I had a list of ordinary people doing some extraordinary things.
Eventually, I decided to share the list-the Pray4·40 list.
Did the “experiment” work? Definitely, “yes.”
Thank-you for taking your time to check out the Pray4·40 list.

P.S. Why not try your own experiment and sees what happens?
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank-you for the opportunity to share these prayers. May they change the life of everyone who reads them. Thank-you for for letting us talk to You anytime we want. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Free Bonus:
The The One Year Bible Illustrated (NIV) has an interesting configuration. The Bible is “divided” into 365 daily sections. Each day you read a portion of the Old Testament, the New Testament, something from Psalms and a verse or two from Proverbs. By the end of the year, you have read the entire Bible.
Besides the New International Version (NIV), the publisher has several other versions available including King James Version (KJV), New King James Version (NKJV), New Living Translation (NLT), and the English Standard Version (ESV).
I first found out about Brian Welch after watching his I Am Second video. A former member of the metal band Korn. He has a very interesting story to share.
Would you like to know more about me? Well, my wife needs a vacation and I had a short-lived career as a teenage pig farmer. And, you can even see my picture. Enjoy!
