It’s strange. I can’t explain it. You have probably noticed it as well.
Whenever two people walk side-by-side, they synchronize their gait. Regardless of the differences in their height, leg length or any number of other factors, the beat of their steps become one. In fact, the closer they walk together, the more likely they will be “in-phase” – left, right, left, right – together. It is truly a unique form of intimacy.
Now just imagine what it would be like to walk daily with our Heavenly Father-to be synchronized, to be “in-phase,” to be spiritually intimate with Him.
Well, we don’t have to imagine very hard. Enoch already found out. “He walked faithfully with God for 300 years, then he was no more, because God took him away.” In other words, Enoch never experienced death.
Maybe God’s proposal went something like this: “My goodness, Enoch. I didn’t realize it had gotten so late. I have truly enjoyed our conversation today. I wish we could continue it forever. Hey, maybe we can? Since we are closer to My home than yours, why don’t you just come home with Me?”
[Hmmm. Dramatic pause.]
I think I know somebody that is waiting to go on a walk with you right now. Have a great time. See you when you get back. Maybe.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank-you for walking with me each and every day. Thank-you for helping me synchronize my life with You and keeping it in-phase with You. Thank-you for this intimate time we can share together. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Wikipedia: Enoch (ancestor of Noah)
Look-It Up:
When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch. After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.
By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.

Daily walks make you smarter-just ask Albert Einstein. During his tenure at the Swiss patent office, he would frequently walk home from work with his friend and sounding board, Michele Besso, while he worked out his theory of relativity.
We actually know very little about Enoch. We do know:
- Enoch was the son of Jared.
- This made Enoch the 7th patriarch from Adam.
- Enoch was the father of Methuselah, the man reported to have lived the longest – a total of 969 years.
- Enoch was the Great Grandfather of Noah.
- Enoch was one of only two people reported by the Bible as not experiencing death. The other person was Elijah.
